In the Depths of Time : The Fiery Sunset of the Snowcapped Mountains of Kurt Lolo

Time is a phenomenon that has a very precise and concrete power in the life of modern man, it is a commodity that he is able to cut like the slices of a cake, and that is quantified in milliseconds as well as light years. Modern man possesses more information about time than he is capable of understanding. He lives in an enormous universe, that sometimes renders him invisible and confused as to his placement in this time that demands everything from him to the benefit of inventions that risk to enslave him for an uncertain and rather vague benefit when it comes to the well being of his heart and soul. In this technological jungle, nature has a way of recalibrating our priorities. The mountains and their splendours are certainly qualified to do just that.
Yesterday, nature photographer Kurt Lolo of Lolo Pics shared a bewitching photo of a sunset, a view of Tazrouth - Tizi n' berbere, with in the background the snow covered mountains on the heights of Sit Meloul, a photo taken at Kefrida in Bejaia. The colours of this sunset seem from a different world. The sky and its clouds seem made of fire of an intense red colour, with purple shadows, and the snow capped mountains are of a finely chiseled ebony black, and to underline the burning fire of the clouds and the sky, there is in the middle of the scene a cloud that trails a line of white smoke. One imagines oneself a witness to an ancient time, where everything was still fire and magma, such is the degree to which the photo of Kurt Lolo is able to transport us to a world that seems to predate time itself. It seems as the future becomes more and more uncertain, because of conflicts all over the world, because of the dangers caused by global climate change, because of the lack of a moral conscience on the part of too many world leaders at a time when there is an urgent need for leaders with a big heart and an intelligent mind, man becomes more and more fascinated with the past. Nature is very qualified guide to make us understand the complexities of human history, because nature is the only force capable to redirect our priorities, if not because of conviction on our part, by the realization that without nature intact, we will not survive as a species. The intense spirit of the photo of Kurt Lolo, the artist name for Lotfi Bouslah, communicates itself with grandeur and passion in this energetic composition with its hypnotic purple and red colours of the sky and clouds. The black of the snow covered mountains on the foreground thrill with an impressive spiritual presence. One cannot stay indifferent in front of this seductive photograph, that invites us into the convictions of its emotions. As with each creative vision of the nature photographer, there is an invitation to participate in the tableau, an intimacy that softens the intellectualism of its perspectives. Kurt Lolo observes with a precise, rational spirit, but at the same time, there is a quality of nostalgia, of vulnerability, that allows that intimacy to express itself with such sincerity, such depth. There is often the experience of a catharsis with his photos, a reaction that leaves us changed. His art is expressionism with the perfume of ancient spirituality, that wants to understand the soul itself of nature, and that wants to inspire a healing communication on the part of nature. Expressionism  originated in Germany as a avant - garde movement in poetry and painting, before the beginning of World War I, and had as its goal to represent the world in a subjective way to create ideas and emotions where the experience of the emotions was more important than the physical reality, like the art of the famous Norwegian painter Edvard Munch ( 1863 - 1944 ). His most famous painting, " The Scream ", made between 1893 and 1910, was inspired during the watching of a sunset, where the artist is said to have heard " the enormous, endless scream of nature ". Every photo of Kurt Lolo holds a part of his soul, of his heart, because like Edvard Munch, the nature photographer so much wants to live and share to the fullest the moments of ecstasy and the lessons that nature allows him, and the visual and emotional and spiritual nuances that she permits him to explore.
